Louis McTizic, lead man of Louis & the Blues Reviewers, is
originally from Tennessee, but moved to Waterloo, Iowa to be near his sister.
There, the singer/harp player found a couple of guys that had been making
music together for about 15 years. They added a few more well-rounded
musicians, and a band was born. They have been together now about ten years.
Partial to playing Delta style Blues, the band has gained some attention by
participating in three of the Iowa Blues Challenges. They earned national
recognition when they traveled to Washington, D.C. as representatives of the
Iowa sesquicentennial delegation at the two-week Smithsonian Folklife
Festival. As a result, both Louis and guitarist Etheleen Wright, were asked
to contribute to the CD, Iowa State Fare. The band has appeared at
several Midwestern Blues festivals, and has opened for artists such as Jimmy
Dawkins, Byther Smith, and Big Jack Johnson. Louis is
certainly the "real deal", and is a much-deserved inductee into the
Blues Hall of Fame.
